Final Fantasy XV is an upcoming action role-playing video game being developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and currently scheduled for a worldwide release on September 30, 2016. It is the fifteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series, and shares a thematic connection with Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy, a subseries of games linked by a common mythos which includes Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Type-0. Originally a PlayStation 3-exclusive spin-off titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII,it is a major departure from previous games, providing a darker atmosphere that focuses on more realistic human characters than previous entries.

XV takes place on Eos, a world similar to modern-day Earth. All the world's countries bar the kingdom of Lucis are under the dominion of the empire of Niflheim. Noctis Lucis Caelum, heir to the Lucian throne, is driven from his home when Niflheim invades Lucis on the eve of peace negotiations between the two nations. Now on the run with his companions, Noctis begins to work towards defeating the forces of Niflheim and rescuing the crystal from their control. The game features an open-world environment and action-based battle system similar to the Kingdom Hearts series and Type-0, incorporating the ability to switch weapons and other elements such as vehicle travel and camping.

Final Fantasy XV is being developed by a team within Square Enix's 2nd Business Division, and is the first to use the company's Luminous Studio middleware engine. It was originally directed by Tetsuya Nomura, who also designed characters and conceived the concept and base story. In 2014, co-director Hajime Tabata took Nomura's place as director, while Nomura moved on to finish work on Kingdom Hearts III. Final Fantasy XV started production shortly before its announcement in May 2006, under the name Final Fantasy Versus XIII. The game's long development time and absence from the public eye gave rise to several rumors concerning its possible cancellation or shift to another platform. The characters have the ability to traverse environments in a free-running style, which also extends to battle with larger enemies. Markers can be placed around the environment to help with navigation. The world is a large connected landmass that can be explored on foot, or by using the party's car "Regalia" or chocobos, recurring galliform birds in the Final Fantasy series. Loading screens are only encountered when the party is entering a city or town. They can visit such locations to rest in hotels or buy equipment and ingredients for cooking during camping.The Regalia can be driven by Noctis, or Ignis can take control, enabling an auto-drive option. The Regalia is maintained by the mechanic character Cindy. Later in the game, the Regalia can be modified to become an airship, allowing the party to fly across the world map. To ride chocobos, the player must rent them.

A day-and-night time system affects the appearance of monsters on the world map. One in-game day equates to one hour real-time, and characters who do not sleep have decreased combat ability. Enemy types, numbers and strength change depending on the time of day. Camping during the night is necessary for characters to maintain combat performance and level up: experience points earned in battle during the day are converted into new levels during camping periods. Camps form a safe haven during exploration, and cooking in them using ingredients from both towns and the wilds grants character status buffs. The buffs become weaker as time passes, with further meals needed to renew them. Once a camp site has been activated, the player can return to it at any time. Minigames, such as fishing, are also available. Quests can be taken from non-playable characters and bulletin boards for experience and gil, the in-game currency. Items acquired in the world through gathering or combat can also be sold at areas called gathering points.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is an action-adventure video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix. It is the sequel to the 2013 video game Tomb Raider, a reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. It was released for Xbox One and Xbox 360 in November 2015 and for Microsoft Windows in January 2016. It is set to release for PlayStation 4 in the second half of 2016.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was officially announced in June 2014. The game's storyline follows Lara Croft as she ventures into Siberia in search of the legendary city of Kitezh, whilst battling a paramilitary organization that intends on beating her to the city's promise of immortality. Presented from a third-person perspective, the game primarily focuses on survival and combat, while the player may also explore its landscape and various optional tombs. Camilla Luddington returns to voice and perform her role as Lara.

Upon release, Rise of the Tomb Raider received positive reviews, with critics praising its graphics, gameplay and characterization. It was the best-selling Xbox One game during Christmas week, and had sold over one million copies by the end of 2015. Additional content was also released, including a new story campaign, a new gameplay mode, as well as new outfits and weapons for Lara.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a third-person action-adventure game that features similar gameplay found in 2013's Tomb Raider. Combat has been redesigned with more options for stealth and sneak attacks. Lara can confuse enemies using the environment, hide behind bushes or in trees, shooting bows on objects, throwing molotov cocktails and fog bottles or avoid combat altogether by climbing trees or traveling across roof tops. The bow and arrow return from Tomb Raider. The grappling hook, now known as a wire spool comes back for rope swinging after being absent from the series since Tomb Raider: Underworld. Options for multiple bows can be fashioned from specific animals and materials that Lara can hunt and salvage. Other weapons such as her pistol, shotgun, assault rifle and climbing axe make a return, plus an added hunting knife for melee or sneak attacks, a breather, and she can use a lock pick to open locked crates and doors.

Platforming also makes a return as mechanics like jumping forwards against a vertical wall and shimming and jumping from ledge to ledge as well as swinging on trapeze make a return. The Night's Watch burns Britt's corpse, and Gared Tuttle is charged with murdering a brother. Finn can possibly testify on Gared's behalf. Regardless, Frostfinger decides to have Gared imprisoned. Jon Snow will pull Gared aside, but no matter what is said, Jon and his men will leave for Craster's Keep without him. Gared is then thrown into a small storeroom as a makeshift prison cell, until Frostfinger can execute him.

The guard watching his room leaves to grab some food, which gives Gared the opportunity to look for a way out. He finds a trowel behind a bag of food, takes it, and then uses it on a loose stone at the bottom hinge of the door. Cotter will show up to help break through the rock, and the two make their escape. After avoiding being spotted by a guard, Finn will show up and ask to join Gared and Cotter in their escape north of the Wall. Cotter does not want Finn to go with them, but the decision is ultimately up to Gared. If Gared chooses to bring Finn, he will join Gared and Cotter. Gared can still allow Finn to join after initially choosing to leave Finn behind, but he'll angrily stay behind if Gared tells Finn that his mind is made up.

Far Cry 2 is an open world first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It was released on October 21, 2008 in North America, October 23, 2008 in Australia and October 24, 2008 in Europe. It was made available on Steam on October 22, 2008. Crytek, the developers of the original game, were not involved in the development of Far Cry 2. It is the second installment of the main Far Cry series, the sequels to the game Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 were released in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

Ubisoft has marketed Far Cry 2 as the true sequel to Far Cry, however the sequel has very few noticeable similarities to the original game. Instead, it features completely new characters and setting, as well as a new style of gameplay that allows the player greater freedom to explore different African landscapes such as deserts, jungles, and savannas. The game takes place in a modern-day Central African nation in a state of anarchy and civil war. The player takes control of a mercenary on a lengthy journey to locate and assassinate "The Jackal", a notorious gun runner. As of January 23, 2009, the game has sold 2.9 million copies.

Far Cry 2 is a sequel to the original Far Cry. The game features an open-ended experience. Players are able to ally with one or multiple factions, and to progress through the game world and missions as they see fit, resulting in a nonlinear style of gameplay commonly referred to as sandbox mode that allows the story to progress at their speed and in the order they choose. Players can use a range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, boats and hang gliders, to travel within the 50 km2 (19 sq mi) gameplay area. The playing styles range from head-on assaults to stealthy infiltrations and assassinations. The game takes place in a sprawling African landscape, with terrain ranging from desert to savannah to jungle.

Various factions and vehicles are featured; enemies include human mercenaries. There is a dynamic weather system that has a day-night cycle and different weather conditions such as storms and strong winds. The time of day also affects the behavior of AI, in terms of enemy alertness and aggressiveness; for example, an enemy might have a slightly heightened awareness at night, but be unable to see the player in hiding, while during the hot part of the day the enemies might be sitting in the shade in groups but easily spot the player from a distance.

The health bar represents the health of the protagonist that is divided into five segments, each of which automatically refills if it is not depleted and the player finds cover for a few seconds. Players carry a limited supply of syrettes which can be used at any time to fully replenish the health bar, and are obtainable from first aid boxes located throughout the game world, specifically at guard posts. When nearing death (only one health bar remaining), the character must perform first aid on himself, for example removing bullets with pliers, or snapping twisted or broken fingers into position.

Sleeping Dogs is a 2012 open world action-adventure video game developed by United Front Games and Square Enix London. It was published by Square Enix and Bandai Namco Games for Microsoft Windows and the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Set in contemporary Hong Kong, the single-player story follows Wei Shen, an undercover Hong Kong-American police officer on assignment to infiltrate the Sun On Yee Triad organisation.

Gameplay centres on Shen's fighting, shooting and parkour abilities, and on gadgets that can be used for combat and exploration. Players must complete missions to unlock content and continue the story, but they may instead wander the game's open world and engage in both legal and criminal activities. The latter may incite a police response, the intensity of which is controlled by a "heat" system. Actions such as fighting, driving and racing grant Shen statistical rewards and earn the player achievements.

Sleeping Dogs‍ '​s difficult and prolonged development began in 2008. The game was announced in 2009 as part of the True Crime series but was cancelled by Activision Blizzard in 2011, as a result of the project's delays and budget issues. Six months later, Square Enix bought the publishing rights and renamed the game Sleeping Dogs, without the True Crime license, but considered a spiritual successor. During development, United Front staff visited Hong Kong to conduct field research for the visual environments and sound.

Upon its release in 2012, the game received positive reviews for its combat, voice acting, experience system and depiction of the city; but its graphics, camera, and animations were criticised. Within one year, the game had sold over 1.5 million copies. New outfits, missions and add-ons, as well as three expansion packs, were released as downloadable content in the six months following the game's debut. A remastered version, subtitled Definitive Edition, was released in October 2014 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It features improved graphical resolution and gameplay, setting and audiovisual quality changes based on community feedback. A spinoff, Triad Wars, is in development and is set to be released in Q2/Q3 2015.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is a 2013 historical fiction action-adventure open world stealth video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the sixth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, a sequel to 2012's Assassin's Creed III‍ '​s modern story and a prequel to its historical storyline. The game was first released on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in October 2013 and was later made available on the Nintendo Wii U, Playstation 4, Microsoft Windows and Xbox One in November 2013.

The story is set in the early 18th century Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy, and follows notorious pirate Edward Kenway, grandfather of Assassin's Creed III protagonist Ratonhnhaké:ton and father of Haytham Kenway , who stumbles upon the conflict waged by the Assassins and Templars. Unlike previous games, gameplay elements focus more on ship-based exploration in the open world map, while also retaining the series' third-person land-based exploration, melee combat, and stealth system. Multiplayer also returns, albeit with only land-based modes and settings.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag received positive reviews, with critics praising the open world gameplay, side-quests, graphics and naval combat. The modern day story received a mixed response, while criticism also fell on aspects of the historical story missions which were considered repetitive. The game received several awards and nominations, including winning the Spike VGX 2013 award for Best Action Adventure Game. The game was followed by Assassin's Creed Unity and Assassin's Creed Rogue, set during the French Revolution and Seven Years' War, respectively, with both released in November 2014.

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is a first-person shooter video game set in the early 1990s during the Unified Task Force peacekeeping operation in Somalia. The missions take place primarily in the southern Jubba Valley and the capital Mogadishu. The game was developed by NovaLogic. The player begins the game as a soldier with Task Force Ranger, commanding 3 team members: Huck, Mother, and Preacher. He/she is assigned to 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, taking part in Operation Gothic Serpent, a military operation conducted during the Battle of Mogadishu on October 3, 1993. During the latter section of the game, the player will still play as that soldier, but is now sent to the 3rd Ranger Battalion and the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, commonly known as Delta Force.

The first few missions in the game are designed to make the player accustomed with the different types of weapons, their usage, enemy AI, terrain types, and combat techniques. The majority of the missions involve convoy protection, providing security for ration distributions, destroying weapon stockpiles, taking prisoners, and rescuing hostages.

Assassin's Creed III is set in an open world and presented from the third-person perspective with a primary focus on using Desmond and Connor's combat and stealth abilities to eliminate targets and explore the environment. Connor is able to freely explore 18th-century Boston, New York and the American frontier to complete side missions away from the primary storyline. The game also features a multiplayer component, allowing players to compete online to complete solo and team based objectives including assassinations and evading pursuers. Ubisoft developed a new game engine, Anvil Next, for the game.

Breakdown is State of Decay's first DLC, which was released on both Steam and XBLA, on 29th November 2013. It adds a new game mode, Breakdown, featuring new melee weapons, firearms, playable characters, and being an infinite sandbox mode, in which one could play the game (in theory) forever.

In Breakdown, no storyline exists, the only goal is to survive for as long as possible. When resources become depleted, players will be given the choice to advance to the next level, using an RV which they must previously locate, repair and refuel. Only 6 people (excluding Lily) can be chosen. All levels are set in Trumbull Valley and all the locations are the same; however, the map reverts to unexplored, containers become unlooted and the zombies get more dangerous.

At first, players will start a new game with a random character. After completing specific challenges, they will unlock and can choose to play as hero characters, each has with their own unique abilities and starting weapons. Players can also set the difficulty when starting a new game, ranging on a scale from 1 to 10. Mortal Kombat X is a fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios. It is the tenth main installment in the Mortal Kombat video game series and was released on April 14, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows, scheduled to be ported to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by High Voltage Software on Q2/Q3 2015. NetherRealm's mobile team also developed a mobile version for iOS and Android devices. The iOS version was released on April 7, 2015.

Like previous entries in the series, Mortal Kombat X is a fighting game in which two players fight against each other using a variety of attacks, special moves, and gruesome Fatalities. The energy meter, first introduced in the previous Mortal Kombat game, allows players to perform techniques such as "X-Ray" special moves. Similarly to NetherRealm Studios' previous title, Injustice: Gods Among Us, fighters are able to interact with the environment, bouncing off areas to reposition themselves or using parts of the environment as weapons. In addition, each fighter has three different variations, each featuring a different set of moves they can use during the fight: for example, the character Scorpion features a Ninjutsu variation in which he wields dual swords, a Hellfire variation which relies more on fiery special moves, and an Inferno variation which allows him to summon hellspawn minions to aid him in the fight. The sprint gauge, which was last seen in Mortal Kombat 4/Gold, returns in this game. MKX features two new types of finishing moves: Quitality, which will instantly kill a player's character if they quit during a multiplayer match and Faction Kills, finishing moves tied to each of the game's five factions. Brutality finishing moves make a comeback from Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in the form of enhanced versions of certain moves that are triggered when they are used to give the opponent the last attack in a round.

The game's play modes are to include Story, 1 vs. 1 Ranked, King of the Hill, Survivor, and Test Your Luck. A new addition called Living Towers is an evolved form of Mortal Kombat's Challenge Tower where the play conditions will be changing every hour. Another new mode is Faction Wars, where the players will have to choose one from the five factions (Black Dragon, the Brotherhood of Shadow, the Lin Kuei, Special Forces, and White Lotus) to align with and join a persistent online cross-platform competition with the others, winning points for their faction to contribute in the conflict between them, ranking up personally, and earning special rewards such as faction-specific finishing moves if the player's faction win at the end of any given week.

SWAT 4 is a tactical first-person shooter video game developed by Irrational Games and published by Vivendi Universal Games on April 5, 2005. It was built on Irrational Games's Vengeance Engine powered by Unreal Engine 2.0 technology. In SWAT 4, the player leads a SWAT tactical element in resolving various situations, such as hostage standoffs or apprehensions of dangerous subjects. An expansion to SWAT 4, entitled SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate, was released on February 28, 2006.

Unlike previous installments in the Police Quest and SWAT video game series, which followed LAPD SWAT officers through missions set in Los Angeles, California, the single-player campaign of SWAT 4 takes place in Los Angeles, during the game's then-future of 2008 to 2009. During the single-player campaign, the player is tasked with leading a five-man police SWAT team, also known as an "element", through 13 missions.

A major factor in SWAT 4 is selecting appropriate equipment to use for the mission. Several firearms are available for use. For most guns, it is possible to choose between standard hollow point ammunition (which is better suited for those enemies in light armor or with no armor as it has good stopping power and can cause the most damage to unarmored targets), and full metal jacket ammunition, which provides better penetration and is advised for use against heavily armored targets. In addition, the player can choose a loadout of less-than-lethal weapons, which do not have the capacity to incapacitate or kill but instead force compliance, and other pieces of tactical equipment. There are two primary weapons that are non-lethal and one secondary. The primary ones are the non-lethal shotgun, which fires beanbags at a high muzzle velocity, which causes disorientation and intense pain, and the "pepperball" gun, which is essentially a heavy duty paintball gun that fires paintballs filled with a chemical irritant. The only available secondary weapon that is not lethal is the Taser. The other piece of non-lethal tactical equipment is pepper spray, which can be carried alongside other tactical equipment: stingers, flashbangs, CS gas, door wedges and the Opti-wand. In the Stetchkov Syndicate, two additional nonlethal weapons are introduced: the less-lethal grenade launcher, which can fire batons, flashbangs, CS gas, and stingers; and the Cobra stun gun, which fires either one or two Taser shots at once or can be used as a contact stun gun.

When playing online, the player has an added protections tab in the equipment selection. The player has to choose between a gas mask or helmet, and thus even the SWAT team can be affected by CS gas if the helmet is selected. When choosing the gas mask, the player's vision is partly blocked and the player's head is more vulnerable. The player must also choose between heavy or light armor.

The game's environments also feature interrogation "hot spots", where The Punisher can interrogate his enemies using death threats and torture, coercing them to share information that may help him in his quest.
